Back At It
Over a year has gone by, and fast! Sorry for being MIA but I hope you can understand. In the past year I’ve left a job, moved to a different state to live “the way life should be,” and started 2 new jobs. The time’s gone by so quickly I haven’t had time for any projects since the MS Gala 2010 but I’ve just restocked my gear and am looking forward to spending some QT whipping up my next project: a necklace to wear to am island wedding in 2 weeks. Keep a look out for details to come!

Gala Time!
Its that time of year again. The 3rd Annual Boston MS Gala is coming up and this year I’ve decided to switch it up. I’m thinking I’ll be making 3 pairs of earrings rather than a necklace. I’ve been on break from work this week I’ve been working on another project so next week is my Gala work week. I’ll also be traveling to Portland, ME this weekend so perhaps I’ll find some inspiration. Can’t wait to get to Beadworks, it’s been a while and I’m in bead withdrawl!

It’s been so long…
… since I’ve had a chance to sit down and make anything new, even for fun! I’m hoping that is all about to change though. I’ve been in the process, since my last post way back in 2009, of applying to graduate school of sorts! Today is a celebratory Tuesday in my life as today is the day my application went in the mail and over the interwebs!
Also many of my friends have decided to become real adults and get hitched in the coming years. This may lead to more work for me, at least I hope!
Forgive my absence please and cross your fingers for good news in approximately 3 weeks…as well as more projects!

And we’re back!
Marriah’s bridal shower was this afternoon and I finished the earrings and her necklace just in time! I’m on the look out for my next project but I’m a little relieved to have this one out of the way. Hopefully I’ll take some time soon to make a few pairs to have on sale, we shall see.
I used fresh water pearls, Swarofski crystal, and vermeil in both pieces and rock crystal in the earrings. The pictures aren’t my best but being a little strapped for time they’re alright.

New Projects
So I’ve been commissioned by my friend to make 10 necklaces as bridesmaids gifts for her wedding Oct. 3rd. Very exciting and very busy! I won’t be able to start working on them until I get back from NY in August so it’ll be straight into crunch time. I’m hoping to get my shopping and a bulk of the work done the last two weeks in August while I’m home and visiting Islesford, ME.
I’ve also started work on the necklace I’m making her to wear in the wedding. It’s my gift to her. We’ve dicussed the design and I’ve included a pic of the initial sketch below.
I’m using a clear illusion cord with two strands of randomly arranged fresh water pearls, gold beads, and swarokski crystals that match the color of her bridesmaid dresses. This is my first experience working with the illusion cord so I’m hoping all goes well. Yesterday I purchased some test yards of it in the extra thin and medium gages to see which I liked more. Stay tuned for the progress, hopefully I can get it done before I leave on the 14th!

MS Gala 2009
Hello, It’s been a while!
Its moving into spring, slowly but surely and I’m starting work on another necklace to donate to the MS Gala this year (pics up soon) and I thought I would put up the events site in case anyone in the Boston area is interested in attending… and perhaps bidding on my gorgeous work!
Please go to http://bostonmsgala.com for information on the event!
In other news I’ll be heading back to the metals studio tomorrow to start a foray into the world of clip-on earrings. There will be experimentation. There will be failure, followed by great success! You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll want to come back for more pictures and perhaps email a request for a pair of your own! Anyhow, I’m really excited to give this a try as its proved to me more difficult to create the design I really want than I had originally thought. I hope you’ll be back to see the outcome!
